About BoilerReplacementCost.com
Why this site exists
UK boiler replacement information online is dominated by installer-affiliate content sites (Heatable, BoilerCentral, MyJobQuote, Checkatrade, BOXT) whose commercial interest is to funnel readers to a quote form. Their content structure follows that interest: a single long-form "here is how much a boiler costs" article with a quote CTA. The user is not given the prior decision: do I actually need a new boiler, and if so along which of four different paths?
This site takes a different shape. It assumes the reader is at the start of the decision, not the end. We map the four options (repair, like-for-like swap, conversion, heat-pump alternative) with calibrated UK 2026 cost ranges at each branch, then go deep on the most-likely scenarios for UK homes. There is no quote form, no booking commission, no affiliate funnel. The site is the editorial guide; the user's next step is finding a Gas Safe registered engineer independently via gassaferegister.co.uk.
Who builds this
BoilerReplacementCost.com is built and maintained by Oliver Wakefield-Smith at Digital Signet, an independent UK research and cost-reference editorial group covering home services, professional services, and consumer purchases. The site sits alongside a portfolio of sister sites focused on adjacent UK home heating + maintenance decisions:
Editorial position
Independent, not a reseller, not a consultancy lead-gen funnel. Not affiliated with any boiler manufacturer or installer: Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Viessmann, Glow-worm, Alpha, Potterton, Ferroli, Heatable, BOXT, Checkatrade, BoilerCentral, BoilerGuide, MyJobQuote, MyBuilder, British Gas, HomeServe, Hometree, EDF, E.ON Next, Octopus, OVO, Scottish Power, EDF. Brand names appear on this site for editorial specificity, comparison, and consumer-clarity reasons only. No paid placements. No booking commission. No quote forms.
What this site covers
Editorial principles
Primary sources first
Every cost range is calibrated against published OEM RRPs (Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Viessmann), Heatable + BOXT installer-direct pricing, Energy Saving Trust guidance, and gov.uk grant documentation. See /methodology for the full source ledger.
Real cited sources only
No fabricated figures. If a figure is industry estimate, it is labelled as such. Specific brand model and warranty details come from the manufacturer's 2026 published terms.
No paid placements
No installer has paid for placement, recommendation, or favourable framing. No commission per quote, per booking, or per click.
Monthly refresh cadence
Sources reviewed monthly. Single-source LAST_VERIFIED_DATE constant in src/lib/schema.ts drives every freshness indicator (page footer, hero badge, Article schema dateModified).
Boiler Plus + regs compliance
All installation content references the actual UK regulatory framework (Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, Building Regulations Part L + Part J, Boiler Plus 2018).
No fabricated practice-level pricing
Cost ranges are UK averages calibrated to the published sources. Specific installer / regional / property quotes vary; always get 2-3 quotes from Gas Safe registered engineers.
Methodology in brief
UK boiler unit prices are 2026 RRPs published by each manufacturer, cross-checked against Heatable and BOXT installer-direct pricing and against Which? Best Buy Boilers retail data. Installed cost ranges add typical UK labour + flue + magnetic filter + powerflush + Building Control budget on top of unit price. Regional cost variation is calibrated against Gas Safe engineer labour rate surveys. Grant data is from gov.uk and Ofgem published terms. Running cost figures use Energy Saving Trust 2026 calculations and assume UK average gas usage and unit cost. See methodology for the full source ledger and refresh cadence.
Contact and corrections
Spot a factual error or a price that has drifted? Email [email protected] with the page URL and the specific correction. We aim to acknowledge corrections within 5 business days and update inline within the next refresh cycle.
Do not email for boiler emergencies. If you smell gas, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately. For non-emergency boiler installation or service questions, find a Gas Safe registered engineer via gassaferegister.co.uk.
